The Douglas County Sheriff's Department provides a vast array of services to the residents of Douglas
County, as well as visitors to our beautiful area. The services include, but are not limited to, the
following:

  • Patrol Functions (Incident Response, Traffic Enforcement, Traffic Accident Investigation, etc.)
  • Investigative Functions (Criminal Investigations, Crime Scene Investigations, Evidence Collection,
    Arson Investigation, Vice/Narcotics Investigation, Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Investigations,
    Identity Theft and Computer Crime Investigations, etc.)
  • Civil Process (Writs/Evictions, Foreclosures, Subpoenas, Warrants, etc.)
  • Jail Functions (Incarceration of local and out-of-county inmates, Huber/Work Release of Inmates,
    Electronic Monitoring of Inmates. Programming for inmates which includes religious services, GED
    classes, substance abuse classes, physical fitness, and other life skills programs)

The Douglas County Sheriff's Department also has individualized assignments for deputies, which
include some the following:

  • Courthouse Security/Bailiff
  • Recreation Officer
  • Canine Handler
  • Transport Officer
  • Civil Process Officer
  • Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) Instructor

The Douglas County Sheriff's Department Rescue Squad is a group of volunteers that responds to
various incidents within the county.  These incidents include, but are not limited to, lost/missing persons,
serious traffic accidents with injuries, water rescue/recovery, severe storms and blizzards, etc.

At the disposal of the Douglas County Sheriff's Department are 4x4 trucks, vans, boats, snowmobiles,
Personal Watercraft, ATV's, computer and digital technology and other items of great assistance and
value.
